Allan Canino

Allan Canino has been a tennis professional for 25 years in Westchester County. Having recently moved to Long Island, he is proud to join the staff of Point Set Indoor. In addition to teaching all levels (beginner to advanced) and ages (4 to 17), Allan takes particular pride in creating a myriad of special events that all ages and levels will enjoy. Here at Point Set, Allan will be hard at work on innovative events such as tournaments, team tennis, matchplay, parties, and vacation-week-camps. Allan is hands-on and will design the curriculum and supervise each event personally. This will culminate in the summer of 2017, when he will helm a summer tennis camp that will be affordable, innovative, and, above all, fun.

In addition to tennis, Allan is a massive fan of literature and film. He’s also the author of three young adult fantasy novels available as e-books on Amazon. You can find them there under his pen name Allan Melody or by typing in the keyword illorium which will bring up all three novels immediately. Allan strives to bring the same artistic creativity to his lessons and programs on the court.

Quotes from Alan:

“I take special events seriously. From years of teaching, I find that the students who participate in match plays, parties, and camps are the ones who play the sport for the rest of their lives. Lessons teach you how to play-special events show you what makes tennis truly great, fun, and rewarding. That is what I hope to bring to Point Set.”

On Teaching:

“As a coach, I’m not interested in creating the next Serena Williams. I am interested in making the time I spend with each student a positive experience that will make them feel better about themselves as well as learning about the game that I love. I see many students who started with me as juniors now in their 30’s still playing and loving the sport. It doesn’t get better than that. And, well, if I ever do teach a future Serena, that would be good too.”

                                                                             Club Manager:

Lori Sarnelli Lori

Lori is the Club Manager (and winner of USTA Club Manager of the Year 2013!). Lori is the eyes and ears of Point Set. Lori insures Point Set’s commitment to providing the best customer service possible.

Point Set’s Mission Statement

Point  Set Tennis aspires to be the most vibrant tennis club on the South shore of Long Island. A professional and passionate staff will offer a complete tennis education to beginner and elite player alike. A clean, safe and successful club that will use the great sport of tennis as a way of growing champions both on and off the court.

About Point Set Tennis

Point Set Tennis is your tennis home on the South Shore of Long Island, with seven tennis courts for League Play, Junior Development, Mixed Doubles, Mommy and me and After-School Programs.  At the present time, we have Fourteen Women’s Leagues playing day and night with levels of play ranging from 2.5 to 3.5.  In addition to our Private and Group Lessons, this year we will be offering  a new program – Tuesday Mid-Day “Crunches” –  for our daytime players,

We also offer a full complement of  Wheelchair Tennis Programs including a free Multiple Sclerosis tennis clinic for players using wheelchairs or walkers. Our staff of top tennis professionals is ranked second to none, and has an impressive resume of experience with both juniors and adults.

During the past 10 years, Point Set has invested over $800,000 to modernize our facility, bringing you the best available lighting, rubber-cushioned courts, renovated lobby and lounge, closed circuit TV with the ability to tape all matches played and our newest improvement – air conditioned courts! We are also the test site for SportsCam, a system that allows the viewing of matches from anywhere in the world via the Internet.

At Point Set, we maintain our facility as though it were our home.  Courts are vacuumed daily so you will never see that annoying yellow lint that you see on so many other indoor tennis courts. We are committed to maintaining our facility to the highest possible standards of excellence.

For the past 12 years, we have been the only Long Island club to be selected as a rain site practice facility for all rounds of the Qualifying and Main Draws of the U.S. Open. In 2009, approximately 20 main draw players used the facility to practice. We are also the only Long Island club to be named one of the top 50 “Welcome Tennis Centers” in the United States for two consecutive years.

We invite you to stop by our facility, meet with our pros and find out why so many Long Islanders are proud to call Point Set Tennis their home for tennis.
